Where are some of our past trainees now?

LouiseI am working in Igualada , a small town near Barcelona. Things are going well here. I like the job and the town and I have plenty of classes - both with adults and children - to keep me busy. Louise Prowse, UK

I´m teaching in a school in Hospitalet , next to Barcelona. Things going fine, I have a few private students as well. James Wentworth, UK

I have found a job in Madrid . I am working full time in a small language school in the Northern part of the city. I realise now that I learned a lot on the course and I've been thinking it would have been sooooo difficult teaching (especially the fact that almost all of my students are teenagers!!) if I hadn't done the course. Many thanks, John Kayan, UK

AndyI haven´t gone very far - I´m teaching in Barcelona for a school which specialises in in-company business English teaching. Everything is going well. Andy Bliss, UK

I'm still in Barcelona and I'm working in Sant Joan Despi (near Barcelona) for the 2nd year. Helen Smith, UK

JamieHello. I'm still in Barcelona. I'm working in the evenings for one school in the center of Barcelona and in the mornings and afternoons I'm teaching business English for two big companies. I also have one private client. My hours total about 25 a week which is grand for me. Thanks for everything. Jamie Grayson, UK

RajeshHello, I'm teaching in Rochester City (NY) at the moment. In January I will probably be in Latin America somewhere. Rajesh Barnabas, USA

I'm currently working as academic coordinator in Washington, DC. I started as a teacher last year and have been in my current position since January 2004. Jennifer Mazzuchi, USA

HelenaI'm teaching full time in a community centre in the UK. I have an extremely interesting and rewarding job teaching ESOL to Asian women. To say that I've learned alot over the last 18 months would be an understatement, but I must say that the TEFL course stood me in good stead. I have had to work hard at over-coming cultural barriers and creating appropriate resources- most of the students cannot relate to Headway, Cutting Edge etc. Teaching students who don't even have the alphabet is extremely challenging, as is keeping them engaged in the lessons.Helena Robertshaw, UK

AnnaI'm actually back in London, working as a learning support assistant with people whose second language is English and applying for drama school to do my degree. Anna Myers, UK

SimonI am teaching out in China, I have been here for just over a year.  Shenzhen is just north of Hong Kong, I have really enjoyed teaching, thanks for great start in Barcelona. Simon Barnes , UK

Corinne

I am working in northern Japan right now for a senior high school through the JET programme. Corinne Orton, Scotland

MichaelI'm in Bangkok , Thailand. Here, schools close all October and I'm soaking up the heat down on Koh Chang (Elephant Island) - unspoilt rain forest and lots of white sand beaches. Michael Kennefick, Ireland

I took my CELTA with Lewis School in July of 2003.  It was the best thing I ever did. This past summer I actually got an ESL job to teaching adults in Canada (which is very hard to do).  Now I am teaching ESL to young children in Seoul , Korea.  I am loving every minute of it. Marie Fennell, Canada

LesleyMy first year after leaving the Lewis School was spent teaching at a prestigious school in the North of Thailand, where i was teaching 55 students in a class. Believe it or not I excelled there teaching 900 students in a week and they wanted me to stay. Now, into my second year I am teaching English in Hong Kong for a private company and 2-8 students in a class which is a huge difference. Lesley Johns, UK

GillianI am currently teaching English to adults in Paris . It's a lot of work, we have over 500 students for three teachers, but I love it! I am using a lot of the skills that I learned during the CELTA course! Gillian Robbins, Canada

I'm finally working, teaching EFL in Turin, Italy , making the whole new start after I initiated at your school 2 years ago.  I'm loving it!  It's all a dream come true. Sidney Conner, USA

SuzanneWell I made the big move from Spain to Abu Dhabi (UAE). I made the right decision I love it here and there's heaps of work. Teaching the Arabs is great. I'm teaching at the British Council which is one of the best schools in Abu Dhabi. Suzanne Ellis, Australia

StevenI was working in BCN until July of this year. I am currently in Liverpool where I am staying until February. In February I am starting a one year contract teaching high school kids in Tapei - Taiwan. Steven Holligan , UK

Hi! I'm in Kuala Lumpur where I am currently teaching English at an international language school. Victoria Mardon, UK

I'm working in Bremen, Germany. I'm on a one year contract teaching Business English for a company. I'm having a good time working and really like teaching. Germans generally speak English pretty well, so my classes are more fluency based, with more emphasis on error correction than grammar presentations so its a little different from what I was doing in Spain. Voula Floros, Canada

KathleenI'm presently in Urubamba, Peru (near Cusco) doing mostly volunteer work with kids with special needs. We run some English classes and I have one private student that I teach. I have given some lectures to the Peruvian teachers here (in Spanish), but I use all the teaching techniques that I learned in the CELTA course. Kathleen Paduano, USA

Hi all, currently working in Gdansk , Poland. Jason Blean, Ireland

I've passed CELTA and I'm ready to teach... so what's next?

'I have just completed a 1-year contract in Surabaya, Indonesia and will return to the USA tomorrow where I'll be teaching in Santa Barbara, California. The experience here has given me what I need to continue teaching. I also plan to return to school in order to become qualified to teach in the US. Thanks for everything -- the training I received at your school has been invaluable in my new career!'

Bernadette Faulhaber - USA
