Living in Spain

Living in Spain

It is important to approach your stay in Barcelona with an open mind and a tolerant attitude. The way of life, people's attitudes, culture and simple things like timetables are different so try to be flexible.

Another important thing to remember is that almost everyone in Barcelona lives in a flat, not a house. This means less living space and a balcony instead of a garden. Don't expect a spectacular view from your bedroom window or natural light as you may not have either of these. If you plan to live in Barcelona it is important to take this reality into account. Many misunderstandings come from not knowing what to expect from living arrangements. Remember 'When in Rome ..'

If you choose to come to Barcelona to do your CELTA course you will not be disappointed. The experience of living in Barcelona, even for a short time, is enriching and exciting. In fact if you are not planning on moving to the city long term, be careful not to get hooked. Many of our trainees do!

"Families are used to taking foreign students into their homes and are sensitive to their needs but remember that there will be some obligations such as turning up for meals, including breakfast even if you have had a late night!"
